Contributions of self-employed doctors: the Chamber challenges the CNSS position

CNSS is now asking private clinics to pay social security contributions for doctors who practise there on a self-employed basis, particularly radiologists and anaesthetists, treating them as employees.

The Chamber considers this reclassification to have no legal basis: these doctors practise in their own name and under their own responsibility, collect their fees directly or work under cooperation agreements, and pay their own contributions. According to the Chamber, the Ministry of Health and the Medical Association share this view.

Talks between employers, the Ministry of Social Affairs and CNSS led to verbal commitments to suspend proceedings, but no official text has been issued so far. The Chamber is asking CNSS to publish a joint note explicitly exempting clinics from contributions for independent doctors.
