New cheque law: cheque payments down 80% in private clinics

Prof. Boubaker Zakhama, president of the Chamber, reported an 80% drop in cheque payments at private clinics since the new cheque legislation came into force.

Clinics traditionally offered patients payment facilities, mainly by cheque. According to the Chamber, the change has led to a reduction of about 30% in services provided, affecting citizens' access to care.

Clinics now have to adapt their payment arrangements.
